NRA Range Safety Officers should be experienced shooters, involved in many aspects of target shooting, training and range supervision. The NRA encourages active shooters to learn more and become responsible for the safety of fellow shooters through this program.

  • Range Safety Briefing
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions
  • Review and Test

You must complete all six lessons and a short test with a 90% pass rate in order to become a certified Range Safety Officer. If you do not pass the course the first time you will be able to take the test two more times. Once you pass the course you will be directed to receive a completion certificate that you can save as a file and/or print. This is a live classroom-based course facilitated by an NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer.
